The Queens of the Sea: stories of women and ancient fishing

Porto Antico-Slow Fish Arena

Some fish, others gather, still others use traditional conservation methods or cook.

In this meeting we explore the seas of Europe and Asia, and right down to the Cape of Good Hope, giving a voice to the women of Slow Fish communities: the haenyeo of Korea, who combine fishing with free-diving; Barbara Rostenburg-Geerstsena, oyster gatherer of the Wadden Sea Traditional Fishers (Slow Food Presidium); Sally Barnes, the Irish fish smoker that has made Woodcock Smokery a reference point both for its working methods and the fish species she focuses on; and the young American fisherwoman Betsey Brown, who works side-by-side with her local community to promote artisanal shrimp fishing in Maine.

Free entry while seats last.
